June 30 last day?

Well we have got to the last day and it feels like time for reflection.

On the whole I have enjoyed the juneathon. What I didn't like was having to come to terms with the startling fact that it is me that makes the excuses so only I know how valid they are.

Did the weather stop me . On the whole no just meant it was a bit muddy.

Do I feel fitter. Not really but it is early days

Would I recommend doing it . yes - gives you a fresh start where you can just be a beginner.

Would I do it again. Yes

And the blogging- that remains to be seen. I should have invested in blogsie earlier as it makes it easier

June 30th last day of juneathon

Well I got to the 30th and I have managed the excercise, well the walking to work, but been really rubbish at the blog. So I thought I would spend some cash and buy a little ap called blogsy to help with the blogging from my iPad. First thoughts £2.99 well spent.

Today I just did a quick walk over to the office from the village but at least it was something.

I'll try to get out and find more pinecones when I go out tomorrow.

June 25 walking to work

Today, I had a really great excuse to not walk across the fields part of the way to work.I had a rather cumbersome file that I need to take with me as well as all my healthy snacks, phone and iPad. I did rather look like a bag lady but I'm glad to say I did the walk., for some reason it feels like stolen time . For years I've just sat in my car patiently waiting for the road to clear, my little walk cuts out that frustration and just allows me to wake up gradually. When I walked back to the car at lunchtime I even felt the heat from the sun. Weird it's been so cold and windy I'd forgotten what it was like to feel heat.

25th June the bag lady

Juneathon 7th june / 14th

Ok so I think it is safe to say I have failed with the blogging side of the Juneathon. I do have an excuse of sorts . I have been on a mission at work to write some templates to make my work less arduous and boy did my eyes ache and the end of each day.
By last thursday they were just so sore and ached so much I just stopped wearing my contact lenses and decided to give them a rest for the week.

I have been walking and running carrying on with week 2 of the beginners running.
Week 2 includes run 2 minutes walk 1 minute walk x7 times.

I am finding the most difficult bit is the first step out of the door, after that is it is just a pain.
Need to do another session today then will be back on track.

As for the walking, I have found a route out from my office that takes me a circular route over to the woods and back. Who would have thought that in June I would need my lovely Arc'reryxteryx

Day 24

Well this is a disastrous attempt at a blog I must say. We are now on day 24 and I had almost forgotten about the blogging bit.....except that my beloved reminded me.
I have to say in mitigation that it's because I've been tired from doing the exercising bit that the blogging went out the window. I have been running or walking everyday bar 2 1 when I did 8 hours in the garden and 2 the day after when I couldn't move because of the previous days effort but apart from that I've been at least walking everyday, maybe just in my lunchtimes but that's more than I was doing before the juneathon.

Anyway a few days ago when I had spent the day wandering about feeling very lethargic without any energy a penny dropped. I realised that it's not just that I am not eating the right things I am still just not eating enough. Also I eat too late in the day. So I made a few changes and started having a much bigger breakfast. Having looked at the recommendations by the Food Doctor I also decided to try and follow their proportions of carbs to protein to sugar at every meal. This means I have to have breakfast in a few stages but it's ok. I set it up the night before and then I have enough time.

It's early days but today I got up and having had what seemed like a large breakfast and lunch I walked over the common for a good couple of hours. I would like to say how far but on this occasion it was the watch and phone that ran out of energy I would not say I was like the Duracell bunny but it was definitely better. What is even better is it 10o'clock and I still feel ok . Still crap at the blogging bit though .
I took photos on my walk but can't get my head round how to up load them . May have to leave that till tomorrow.

I did Juneathon Day 5 promise

Ok so I dont seem to be very good at this.
Yesterday I did a days gardening including my most hated chore strimming the
Veggies. In the afternoon in the spirit of juneathon I walked over to the common and gathered
Pine cones in the wheelbarrow. More bending and stretching than walking but as I have been meaning to do it for
Ages and have never got round to it. So see my rules ...it counts.
Anyway I was just about to write today's entry then noticed that yesterday's comments written at 10.30 pm was missing?

I am really not good at this blogging.

Take it easy - Day 4

So luck that it's is a holiday , the weather has been so cold recently nothing has really got planted in the garden and with all the rain the weeds have just gone completely mad. Got out early and tidied up and planted yet more cabbages. Think I rather went overboard when I bought the plugs . Just how much coleslaw can I eat. After lunch decided that my juneathon contribution would be to walk over to a friends and give her back some dishes that I had borrowed. It was only as I was leaving that I realised there was 1 dish missing, so I went without it. I tried explaining the juneathon to my friend. Obviouly not very well because she just said that surely gardening had to count. So I decided I needed a bit of a rule for what is elligible for juneathon excercise and what isn't. I decided that as I want to use the month to increase the amount of excercise I get . So if I was going to be doing the activity any way then it would not count, but if it was additional to what I would usually do then it would count. So there we have it a short walk counted then I went back to hoeing the weeds which was hard work but didn't count. Best excuse for not excercising- I can't find the casserole dish

Oops where's my blog for day 3

Well day 3 of the juneathonwas wet. I spent the morning pottering in the
garden planting lettuce and cabbages.

After lunch I found a satellite link for my garmin (see excusese on day2) and was about to head out when the drizzle became a downpour. I thought it was a reasonable excuse and was going to wait for it to ease.
Except my partner pointed out that I have a Gore rain jacket .

So I had to go.
Actually it was ok, just a bit soggy and I now have done week 1 of the beginners running.

I promise I did blog it when I got home but it seems to have vanished.
So far I am finding the exercise easy it's the blogging that's difficult.

Best excuse for the day

It's raining

Dithering around again- day 2

Well after yesterday's excitement I woke up today feeling very proud of my self. Gotup and pottered around with that warm smug glow that yes yes yes I had finally done it. There was just 1 tiny nagging doubt in the back of my head ... a voice kept saying no you haven't done it.

About 10.00 I realised the error I had made. I hadn't done it at all, It was a big fat lie to myself. I had started and completed a measely 1/31 of the task. I had to do more and whilst I had really planned Friday's start-up I had put no thought into how to cram today's exercise in. I did what I always do in these circumstances...absolutely nothing. I spent a good couple of hours alternating between dithering between walk to find an item on the Treasure Hunt list that Travelling Hopefully has so inventively started or count watering the veggies with cans as exercise.

Finally I rang out of time and so went for the quickest and easiest option.

Friday 1 June 2012

I did it! - day1

Can you imagine how I feel .
I finally got the my act together and went out at 2.00pm and started to run again.
Loads of excuses ready in my head but no I finally scrub them all out and followed the beginners guide to running and did day 1
8x1min run followed by 1.5min walk

And the even bigger news it was ok ... Just a big red face but otherwise ok.

Best excuse for not running
As I drove to the park I had specially chosen so no one could see me ....only to discover a massive barrier at 6ft high.
Well I have a rather large canoe on the roof of my car
So the excuse was "well I tried its not my fault if the barrier is too low"
Good excuse .......but then I found a little field just round the corner where people walk their dogs . Bugger no excuse.

Wednesday 30 May 2012

So 10pm , just a few hours to go and Do I have :"b" kit ready"break" Training watch "break" Socks "break" Plan"break" Route"break" "break" The answer to all these is a resounding no. I have been working on one thing : my excuses I have another 1 to add to the list. I can't exercise because my cars at the garage. I won't bore you with details .... It is exactly as it seems a pretty lame excuse. "break" In other news my partner is getting lots of excercise oiling our new kitchen wooden work top which needs to be sanded and oiled every day for a week then every week for a month then every month for a year.

Tuesday 29 May 2012

Counting down.......

So get the excuses ready.

The juneathon starts .... Well shortly on the 1st of June as you might expect and I have already started to get my excuses ready. These thoughts seem to lurk just behind the more practical thoughts of will it be warm? Remember to pick up the sports watch, socks etc They are coming thick and fast. I can hear them lurking :
I just don't have time ?
I've loads of work to do
What will happen to my garden .... It needs watering or it will die!
I've no kit
I will look stupid .....some one I know might see me

I thought these thoughts were unique to me but then I happened on love hate runners blog and I realised that I was not alone. Everyone has them .... Maybe I just let them come out a bit more.
So I have decided to add a stat of the stupidest excuse I have for not completing the challenge.

Today's winner is.....
It's going to be hot ....I will get a red face?

Sunday 27 May 2012

Ii'm not sure what frightens me more.....

Seriously I'm not sure which fills me with more dread ...agreeing to take some exercise every day in June 2012 or agreeing to write about it!

In case you hadn't heard the annual Juneathon is about to begin; when a few mad souls agree not only take some exercise every day in June; but to also blog about it.  On the grounds that I can't do anything on regular a daily basis; even having breakfast is a bit hit and miss, trying to do 2 things everyday for 30 days is a bit scary. I haven't run for ... well since I cant remember when and my first attempt at blogging lasted 3 maybe 4 posts.
Not a great pedigree.  Wish me luck... I need it.
